So to choose
or rather take the given benefits it is equally important to choose the right
oil because there are so many brands in the market contaminated. You have to
choose it which is authenticated, branded and have a loyal set of customers. So
we have listed down a list of check points before you finalize your coconut
oil.
.
List of check points to choose the correct coconut oil:
1.
Unrefined
Structure
Coconut
oil should be naturally processed and unaltered with any artificial process.
Altered oils are bleached, refined & deodorized which can be very harmful
for the skin. Altered oil are good for industrial uses. So make sure the oil is
non-refined to an extent that it does not harm the skin. Lot of companies mix
chemicals to give it an aroma which is fine.
2.
Labels
Check the
labels and ingredients. Note that some brand labels will include the buzzword
‘organic’, ‘authenticated’ even though they may still contain contaminants, so
check to be sure. Go for older brands as that instills a form of loyalty and
assurance as people have been using it for quite some time.
3. Safe Container
If its glass jars it’s the best, but for effective
costing companies use plastic. So here comes the question of authentication as
bad plastic containers will bring a bad odour and it will stick to the plastic.
So check if its from authenticated plastic. It’s difficult for you to judge these
authentications. So as stated earlier you can go for old brands.
4.
RBD Standards
The coconut oil has to meet the standards of RBD. RBD stands for
refined, bleached & deodorized. So anything in excess or less can be
harmful. So companies have to be extra cautious.
The bleaching is not the chemical process what you are presuming
it to be, rather a filter process to eliminate impurities. Steam is used to
deodorize the oil, since initial stage was copra. So the end results gives a
tasteless or a bland taste with no odor at all.
People have a notion that unrefined oil are the best and on
refining it loses its strength hence are not good. Well it’s not true at all.
Almost all the companies go for RBD standards hence refining. These companies
are there in the market for a long time and are doing pretty well.
It’s simple in the unrefined process; there are lots of impurities
due to natural climate reasons. To get it removed, a small amount of
nutritional value is also wiped away with impurities which are fine. You can
use it now and can also term it as healthy.
So to conclude there are various brands in the
market providing coconut oil in India but not all are properly refined and
authenticated.
